Who is UVSA
- The United Vietnamese Student Associations of Northern California (UVSA) is a non-profit, non-partisan, community-based organization founded in 2002 as a means for youth to organize socially and civically in Northern California. Committed to cultural awareness, educating youth, and community service, UVSA is composed of volunteers—including young professionals, college students, and high school students—to help youth develop a sense of their Vietnamese heritage and identity. (And you may add additional information about uvsa).
What’s the Olympic about?
- This is the first annual United Vietnamese Student Associations (UVSA) of Northern California Olympics. Back in September 2007, when we had the first NORCAL UVSA SUMMIT, where each vsa organize and wanted to do something together as a whole, where we can have fun, form a community and many more . The UVSA Olympics is meant to promote physical activity and social interaction between the VSA’s of Northern California, while fundraising for a non-profit.
- The non-profit that we are fundraising for is the Vietnamese Overseas Initiative for Conscious Empowerment (VOICE), which is a non-profit that provides legal aid to Vietnamese refugees still stranded in the Philippines, as well as organizes anti-trafficking efforts in Cambodia.
